Thuravur, Kerala – In a landmark development for the food industry, dsm-firmenich VKL Seasoning – a dsm-firmenich company – has inaugurated its newly expanded seasoning plant in Thuravur, Kerala. The opening, perfectly timed with the festive spirit of Onam in Kerala and Ganesh Chaturthi across India, marks an auspicious step forward in growth, innovation, and sustainable food solutions.
A Game-Changer for the Industry
The expansion is more than just added capacity. While it strengthens speed-to-market and enhances the ability to deliver customized flavor solutions for both domestic and global markets, its biggest milestone is setting a new industry benchmark.
The Thuravur plant is now officially India’s first facility producing 100% Ethylene Oxide (EtO)-free seasonings—a breakthrough that reflects dsm-firmenich’s commitment to food safety, quality, and innovation. This marks a transformative moment for the industry where exceptional taste meets uncompromising safety.

The inauguration ceremony brought together global leaders and dignitaries. Members of the dsm-firmenich global Taste team—Maurizio Clementi, Marco Monteiro, Albert Plans, PhD, and Florian C.—joined the celebration in Kerala to mark this milestone.
The event was further honored by the presence of Juan Pedro S., Counsellor and Head of the Economic, Trade and Finance Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in India and Bhutan, making his first official corporate visit to the plant.
